Running over the summer months, these workshops have been designed so you can dip in to one or as many as you like, there is no need to have attended previous sessions to join a later one.
Women’s Wellness Hub workshops start with a fully accessible exercise session, 100% designed for mid-life women. Working with body weight, resistance bands and dumbbells, the sessions will give you better muscle tone, a trimmer waist, aid blood sugar control and improve heart and brain health, all at your own pace and without any running or jumping, so no need to worry about the pelvic floor.
The sessions are followed with a cool drink or a brew – tea, coffee or herbal tea – perhaps a chat with your fellow exercisers and then a sit down for a talk covering the most important issues for both mid-life and life-long health.
You are supported throughout the programme with on-line access to four resistance and four core workouts.
You will also find helpful hints and tips about nutrition, lifestyle and further sources of reliable information about peri-menopause and menopause for you to explore at leisure.
Everyone coming to one session will have access to all of the online workouts, giving you the independence to continue your journey, with any additional support you might find helpful from the WWH workshop community through a private Facebook Group (entirely optional!).
Workshop One: Pelvic floor health for peri-menopause and menopause
Together we work through the first 45-minute movement session from the online resource pack, using resistance bands, body weight and optional free weights.
At Workshop 1, you can finally hear some good news about menopausal pelvic health from Hazel, a Pelvic Health Specialist Physio based at the Nuffield Hospital Cheltenham and Bourton Physiotherapy.
Workshop Two: Your amazing brain
A chance to sample the second of the exercise programmes from the online resources and look at importance of technique.
At Workshop 2, you’ll meet Karine Gazariane, PhD and gain an understanding of the mid-life brain plus insight in how to best care for it now and going forwards.
Workshop Three: Mindful midlife
Work on the third programme of movements from the online resources pack provided to all attendees.
Workshop 3 will include a mindfulness session with Sarah Jones from bravekindminds, providing you with a personal toolbox of everyday techniques that will develop a calm mind and improved sleep pattern.
Workshop Four: Nutrition and eating well
Celebrate the start of summer holiday season by completing the final online workout, and discovering the delicious choices for healthy midlife eating.
Conclusion of the Workshop sessions with ideas to keep sharing support and making progress.
At the final workshop, we’ll discuss nutrition with specialist midlife nutritionist, Anita Loxton.
We look at the possibilities for finding the motivation to continue with exercise by considering some of the wider benefits it brings. If it could be bottled, exercise would be a wonder drug and personal trainers would be out of a job…
Workshops include a 45-minute exercise session, tea/coffee and a 45-minute talk and Q&A. They are supported by online exercise videos, health resources and links to the topics discussed.
