Clients come to FitActive Personal Training for lots of reasons, the most-often cited being a wish to “become generally more fit”. As they get into their personal training sessions or regular fitness classes, clients frequently notice lots of other benefits that they weren’t expecting.

An overall increase in muscular strength is a very useful asset for all aspects of day to day living. One of my clients reported that she had been finding her kettle very heavy to lift but following a few sessions in the FitActive Studio Gym, it had become much easier.

To be fair, it was one of those massive kettles that you put on an Aga.

Other clients realise that while on holiday, they were unfazed by the steep steps leading to and from the best sandy cove in the area.

They return from their getaway feeling very pleased that they were able to keep up with their younger family members as well as knowing that they maintained a level of fitness during their break – thanks to some steps and their personal training sessions.

A regular at FitActive’s Fit in 45 exercise classes reported that she was finding that mucking out her horse’s field was much easier as a result of her new, improved fitness. She also became more aware of the best way of lifting and moving to ensure that she not only remained strong but also protected herself from back injury.

Even simple acts like being able to balance safely and strongly in the shower while washing the feet or getting in and out of the bath with confidence make all the difference to daily life.

When it comes to improving day-to-day quality of life, I believe it’s the little things that matter. They are the things that get noticed and they are the motivators that help to ensure that exercise becomes a long-term lifestyle choice that you’ll grow to love.

Of course, there’s lots of clinical research that demonstrates the many physiological benefits of keeping fit. Some of these are less obvious to us as they’re not apparent from simply looking in the mirror or taking a bath.
